Why can Darlington not have "B" teams to support its rep teams. It has been done before in years past. Other clubs of similar size can have up to 4 rep teams! Right now our rep program can only draw from all-star and under agers for a call up. Our teams are already struggling to get to the top tiers of the leagues. With a second team to draw from the quality of up coming players would be that much better. If the all-star teams were in a league where they could play together more and practice more then they would develop quicker. As it stands now they are lucky to get together once a week. Every year at try out times it is always they same kids out and the same team is roughly picked year after year as the rep team moves ahead quicker than the house league can keep up. When new players are picked up they usually come from other clubs and not from Darlington. Should the club be developing our own kids ahead of other clubs? I would say, yes.
In the past teams have had trouble where the B team gets ahead of the A team but that can be fixed by always making the A team pick first and the B coaching staff understanding that the purpose of their team is to feed the A team better players. Of course this would mean more $ for the club as well. There are plenty of kids looking for the opportunity to do so. Let them play here instead of following many other players and playing for the competition.
